Rick — Founder of Distortion Rehearsal Rooms

Rick has spent most of his adult life rooted in the music industry. His career began in 1988 when he formed a band that quickly built a loyal following, leading to a record deal in 1989 and extensive touring across the UK and Northern Europe. Those years on the road shaped his understanding of what musicians really need: reliable spaces, good sound, and a creative environment that feels like home.

When the band came to a natural close in 1994, Rick took time away from the industry to travel and see the world, returning to the UK in 2000 with fresh perspective and renewed energy. He soon reconnected with Lincoln’s vibrant grass-roots music scene, playing in local bands before joining a well known tribute act. This brought him back to large stages, corporate events, and festivals throughout the UK and Ireland.

Rick’s long-standing passion for grass-roots music, combined with his deep ties to Lincolnshire’s creative community, ultimately inspired him to establish Distortion Rehearsal Rooms in North Hykeham. Built from real experience—both onstage and behind the scenes—Distortion is designed to give musicians a space that’s authentic, accessible, and created by someone who genuinely understands the craft.
